One Year Later
The radio said it; it just can't be true!
Danger and tragedy, right out of the blue.
Off to the TV to see with my own eyes
A second plane and fireball, and hope dies.
What can I tell you, what can I say;
I still can't believe it happened that day.
Whatever the twisted reasons why,
They got outrage but we didn't just cry.
History has shown we could overcome all,
Even if people and buildings should fall.
Sixty years ago we all pulled together
And that storm we managed to weather.
They claim that God is on their side,
They planned, and very willingly died.
I cannot tell you just what they proved
But it got us awake, our spirits moved.
And then our bodies followed our heart,
With helping hands we made a start.
Forgive your enemies and be friends,
Leave it to God to make amends.
They can kill the body but not the soul.
Sharing God's love should be our goal.
He sent His Son to us from heaven,
Jesus said to forgive, seventy times seven.
Now, following the Golden Rule,
Don't either give up or be cruel.
We'll be reunited once again,
By God's grace, and He knows when. Amen
